Ollie Halsall

Ollie Halsall

Ollie Halsall, a guitarist of rare caliber, quietly carved a niche in the music world over three decades with his unassuming presence and preference for intimate venues and esoteric artists. Despite his low-key approach, Halsall's influence was profound, from co-founding Timebox, Patto, and Boxer to notable collaborations with artists like John Cale and Neil Innes, and a longstanding role as Kevin Ayers' sideman. His unsung contribution as "Leppo" in The Rutles added a distinct touch to their sound. In 2021, Think Like A Key Music brought his genius back into the spotlight by reissuing his 1979 solo demos, Lovers Leaping, remastered for a new generation. Halsall's untimely passing in 1992 left a void, but his musical instincts and masterful guitar work continue to inspire, cementing his indelible legacy in the annals of music
