Nirvana

Nirvana

Long before the Seattle sound defined grunge, a London-based duo, Patrick Campbell-Lyons from Ireland and Alex Spyropoulos from Greece, birthed the cult symphonic band Nirvana in London's swinging 60s. As the first group signed to Chris Blackwell's Island Records, they infused their music with a blend of psychedelia and Eastern philosophy, embodying spontaneity and transcendence. Their debut, The Story of Simon Simopath, a sci-fi concept album, spawned the hit "Pentecost Hotel." Despite European acclaim, they found limited success in England and America, with their third album Black Flower (also known as Dedicated to Markos III) slipping under the radar. In a twist of fate, 1996 saw the release of Orange and Blue, featuring unrecorded gems, now reissued and expanded by Think Like A Key Music in 2023, offering a fresh look at the original Nirvana's eclectic and pioneering spirit.
