More Than Just Another CBGB Success Story

The Shirts wove themselves into New York City's punk fabric when CBGB was still a gamble, not a legend. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Talking Heads and Blondie in that smoke-filled crucible of creativity, they brought something different to the scene - a sound that was equal parts raw energy and musical sophistication. Led by Annie Golden, whose voice could slice through cigarette haze like a precision-guided missile, they weren't just another band playing punk rock - they were helping invent what punk rock could be.

Fast forward through four decades of evolution (and the occasional dry cleaning), and The Shirts have proven they're made of sterner stuff than your average CBGB alumni. Their new single "Move On Groove On / Deux Royale," released on Think Like A Key Music in September 2024, captures that original fire while adding new fuel to the flames.
