Ice

Ice

The Most Famous Band You Never Saw

Some bands conquered the charts, others ruled the clubs - but Ice? They were too busy becoming legends on the airwaves. Born in Sussex University's creative cauldron in 1967, they turned their lack of live appearances into mystique, armed with a Hammond organ and arrangements sophisticated enough to make jazz cats jealous.

With just two singles to their name - the pop perfection of "Anniversary (Of Love)" and the mind-bending "Ice Man" - Ice carved their niche in British rock history. Their third single "Walk On The Water" was so hot it had to be cooled down to "Walk Under Water" just to get past Radio One's censors. Though they melted away by 1968 (with members later surfacing in Affinity, Sailor, and even pioneering MIDI technology), their legend only grew.

Think Like A Key Music's 2025 release "Whisper Her Name" finally brings together their complete recordings, radio sessions, and associated mysteries - proof that sometimes the bands you can't see leave the most lasting impression.
