Moonrider’s self-titled 1975 album glows with West Coast melody and includes previously unreleased BBC sessions, while Weider’s self-titled 1976 solo LP reveals the gentler, late-night side of the Animals and Family alumnus. Both CDs feature new remasters by Prof. Stoned, richly detailed booklets with fresh notes and rare photos, and exclusive obi strips for collectors. A quiet voice in a loud decade — and one album to prove it.

In 1976, after stints with the Animals, Family, and Moonrider, John Weider stepped away from the band circuit and into the studio with producer Phil McDonald. What emerged wasn't a grand statement — more a gentle late-night record of soft-rock warmth, breezy pop, and personal instrumentals, with Charlie McCracken (Taste), Pierce Kelly (Gary Moore Band), and a cameo from Charlie Whitney (Family) lending their touch. The press noticed — "Frankly, I'm mystified by the general indifference to Weider… there's a heap of good music here," wrote the Gazette & Post — but the world moved on.

Some records just need a second chance to be heard properly.
