What do you get when you mix a forgotten British youth movement, the birth of Social Credit politics, and the co-founder of Van der Graaf Generator? You get The Kibbo Kift — a wildly ambitious, sharply written rock musical first staged in Edinburgh in 1976 and barely heard since.

Written by Maxwell Hutchinson and Judge Smith, The Kibbo Kift is a theatrical song cycle that tells the true story of John Hargrave and his post-WWI back-to-nature movement turned political fringe force. Think Preservation meets The Wicker Man, staged in a 1970s repertory theatre. Originally performed by the band Totem and later produced at the Crucible under director Mel Smith (Not The Nine O'Clock News), this edition assembles rare studio sessions, teaching tape demos, and a live Sheffield recording — remastered from the original tapes with full involvement from both creators.

Part rock-opera, part countercultural archive, part theatrical gem. All previously unreleased.
