No label deal, no manager, no live show — and in a detail that could only matter in Los Angeles, not one of them owned a car.
Skooshny was Mark Breyer, David Winogrond, and Bruce Wagner — recording in basements, borrowed studios, and Michael Penn's backyard four-track, then releasing the results on a label run out of a closet. Bomp! called their debut EP "brilliant" and reached for Big Star comparisons. The industry said the music was "too '60s." A decade later, those same singles were hot collector's items in Europe. Twenty-one tracks — everything committed to tape between 1971 and 1981 — now expanded and remastered. Breyer passed away in November 2023, but the songs remain exactly what he said they were.
Shiny, bittersweet, and real.
