British Lions
In 1978, while punk was busy safety-pinning everything in sight, British Lions emerged as the supergroup nobody saw coming—MOTT (the post-Ian Hunter Mott the Hoople) joining forces with Medicine Head's John Fiddler to create two albums of unapologetic rock thunder. While other bands were deconstructing rock'n'roll, British Lions were too busy perfecting it, crafting music so gloriously unfashionable it became essential—the musical equivalent of a vintage muscle car in a world suddenly obsessed with compact efficiency. Their sound was loud, proud, and committed to the radical idea that sometimes you don't need reinvention, just conviction. Think Like A Key Music's reissues of their 1978 self-titled debut and 1980's Trouble With Women stand as essential reminders of what rock sounds like when it refuses to apologize. British Lions proved that true royalty doesn't need a crown—just a Marshall stack and the volume to match.
